Founded in 2000, the EFG currently has more than 100 active members. The Group’s primary objectives include:
- Facilitating interaction between students, faculty and industry leaders through professional, social and academic events.
- Promoting the Energy Finance specialization to current and prospective students as well as industry recruiters.
- Supporting industry practicums and independent research.
Other EFG activities include: Coordinating site visits to energy firms and related businesses, hosting on-campus industry topic panels, and organizing the annual National Energy Finance Challenge.
Cristian is a member of the MBA class of 2018 with a concentration in Energy Finance and Global Business. He is the President of the Energy Finance Group and VP Events of the Graduate Finance Association. Prior to McCombs, Cristian worked for Marsh and McLennan in Houston designing property and casualty insurance programs for oil and gas companies. Cristian graduated from The University of Virginia in 2009 with a BA in Foreign Affairs. This summer, he will be interning as an Investment Banking Summer Associate at Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Energy and Power practice in Houston.
VP of the NEFC
Karl is a member of the class of 2018 concentrating in Energy Finance and Corporate Finance. He is the VP for the National Energy Finance Case Competition, VP of Corporate Relations for the Graduate Finance Association, an officer with Texas Veterans in Business, and on the McCombs Ambassador Committee. During the summer of 2017, he will intern at Phillips 66. Before McCombs, he served as a Combat Engineer Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Karl graduated in 2011 from Vanderbilt University.
Dylan is a member of the MBA class of 2018 with a concentration in Finance. He currently serves as Vice President of Communications for the Energy Finance Group, as well as Vice President of Career Development for the Graduate Finance Association. Prior to McCombs, Dylan worked as a consultant at ACA Compliance Group, specializing in commodities regulation for Hedge Funds and Private Equity firms. Dylan graduated from Wagner College with a BS in Finance. This summer, he will be interning in Wells Fargo’s Energy Coverage Group in Houston.
Patricio is a member of the class of 2018 concentrating in Energy Finance and Clean Tech. Before grad school, Patricio worked at the Internal Audit Area of the Mexican Oil and Gas company (Pemex). At McCombs, he is Co-president of the Mexican Graduate Business Association and VP in the Energy Finance Group and in the International MBA Student Association. This summer, he will be interning in Go Big Solar in Austin.
Liliana is a member of the MBA class of 2018 with a concentration in Energy Finance. Prior to McCombs, Liliana worked on infrastructure credit analysis at Moody’s and SMBC. Her work included analysis on fossil fuel and renewable power plants and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) assets. This summer Liliana will work in SunTrust’s oil and gas investment banking group in Houston.
