Founded in 2000, the EFG currently has more than 100 active members. The Group’s primary objectives include:
- Facilitating interaction between students, faculty and industry leaders through professional, social and academic events.
- Promoting the Energy Finance specialization to current and prospective students as well as industry recruiters.
- Supporting industry practicums and independent research.
Other EFG activities include: Coordinating site visits to energy firms and related businesses, hosting on-campus industry topic panels, and organizing the annual National Energy Finance Challenge.
Blaise is a member of the MBA class of 2019 with a concentration in Energy Finance. Prior to McCombs, Blaise worked for ONEOK Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma as an engineer planning and designing natural gas pipeline growth projects. During the summer of 2018, he interned with Phillips 66 and its investment appraisal group in Houston. Blaise graduated from Columbia University in 2012 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
VP Alumni Relations
Zach is a member of the MBA class of 2019 with a concentration in Energy Finance. He is the VP of Alumni Relations focused on maintaining and expanding EFG’s network for its active members. Zach graduated from Texas A&M University with a BA in Information and Operations Management. Prior to McCombs, he worked for Chevron in multiple assignments throughout the Supply Chain function in Drilling and Operations. After working for Chevron, Zach started up an oil and gas products company which launched in the Permian Basin in 2017. During the summer of 2018 he interned as an Investment Banking Summer Associate at Guggenheim Partners’ Global Energy group in Houston.
VP of the NEFC
Jonathan is a member of the MBA class of 2019 concentrating in Energy Finance and CleanTech. He is the VP for the National Energy Finance Case Competition and serves on the McCombs Ambassador Committee. During the summer of 2018, he interned at CenterPoint Energy in the strategic planning group. Prior to McCombs, he worked in the energy and utilities practice at Charles River Associates performing economic analysis and modeling of the electricity sector.
VP of the NEFC
Emily is a member of the MBA class of 2019 pursuing a finance concentration. She is a VP for the National Energy Finance Case Competition and a portfolio manager for the MBA Investment Fund. Before McCombs, Emily worked in semiconductors as a photolithography process engineer for Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX. During the summer of 2018, Emily interned in energy investment banking for Bank of American Merrill Lynch in Houston. Emily graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2009 with a BS in Chemical Engineering.
Ryan is a member of the MBA class of 2019 with a concentration in Energy Finance and CleanTech. Prior to McCombs, Ryan worked for Black & Veatch in Overland Park, Kansas designing liquefied natural gas facilities. During the summer of 2018, he interned in the Bay Area with Chevron in their finance MBA development internship program. Ryan graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2013 with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BS in Chemistry.
Vishal is a member of the full time MBA class of 2019. He is the VP Treasury of the Energy Finance Group and VP Social Events of the International MBA Student Association. Prior to McCombs, Vishal worked for Royal Dutch Shell in Bangalore and Dubai in various roles including evaluating investment opportunities for the group. During the summer of 2018, he interned at Apple. Vishal graduated from IIT in 2010 with a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering.
Ashish is a member of the MBA class of 2019 with a concentration in Finance and Business Analytics. He currently serves as Vice President of Communications for the Energy Finance Group. Prior to Mccombs, Ashish worked as Lead Engineering Consultant at WorleyParsons, specializing in the design and development of offshore oil and gas production platforms. Ashish graduated from IIT Madras in India with BS in Ocean Engineering. This summer, he interned with Hewlett Packard Enterprise in strategy and finance role.
