Founded in 2000, the EFG currently has more than 100 active members. The Group's primary objectives include:
- Facilitating interaction between students, faculty and industry leaders through professional, social and academic events.
- Promoting the Energy Finance specialization to current and prospective students as well as industry recruiters.
- Supporting industry practicums and independent research.
Other EFG activities include: Coordinating site visits to energy firms and related businesses, hosting on-campus industry topic panels, and organizing the annual National Energy Finance Challenge.
Joan is a first-year MBA student concentrating in Energy Finance and Strategy. She is a Houston native and graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She began her career working for ExxonMobil’s Project Management Division, where she primarily worked on the Marine Well Containment System aimed at responding to subsea well control incidents. She then transitioned to a career in oil and gas consulting, where she focused on upstream and downstream growth and operational strategy. Joan is planning to transition back into the energy industry upon graduation from McCombs, and will spend her summer working for Apache Corporation in Strategic Planning.
Marcus is a member of the MBA class of 2020 with a concentration in Energy Finance. Prior to McCombs, Marcus worked for Kinder Morgan in Colorado Springs, Colorado in a hybrid role split between commercial and fundamental analysis positions in the interstate natural gas group. In the summer of 2019, he will intern with Chevron in their finance MBA development internship program in San Ramon, California. Marcus graduated from Princeton University in 2011 with a BA in Economics.
VP of National Energy Finance Case Competition (NEFC)
Ulysse is a member of the MBA class of 2020 pursuing an Energy Finance concentration. He is the VP of National Energy Finance Competition and a Manager of the MBA Investment Fund covering the Energy sector. Ulysse graduated from McGill University with a Chemical Engineering degree. Prior to McCombs, Ulysse worked for Baker Hughes as a reservoir evaluation Field Engineer in the Gulf of Mexico region. During the summer of 2019, Ulysse interned at Chevron within the MBA Finance development program.
Sid is a member of the class of 2020 with a concentration in energy finance. In addition to the Energy Finance Group, he is involved in the Graduate Finance Association. Prior to McCombs, Sid worked in Supply Chain Analytics for Sysco Foods. Before working at Sysco, Sid worked in the Supply Management group at Jacobs Engineering. He has a Bachelors in Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Engineering Management from Duke University. This summer, Sid will be a Corporate Strategic Planning intern at Cheniere Energy.
